Short Fiction

“The Dowry Hunt.” The Hungry Chimera: Story of the Month, October 2017.

This short story is the opening scene from my unpublished novel, Zelena’s Moon Fall. In “The Dowry Hunt” we meet the crown prince of Reliqua as he embarks on the challenge that will join his house with that of the Tepsian Empire, ending 700 years of war between the two powers, only to find that nothing has been left to chance.

“Krupnik Kiss Off.” The MacGuffin, vol. 32, no. 4, 2016.

This short story will be featured in the fall issue of the literary journal The MacGuffin. This story explores a turning point in the life of Kara Lieske. It bears witness to the loathing of her adopted mother and of the ceaseless love of a father that made all the difference.

“The Drums of Odayin,” Pilot, special issue of Sidements Literary-Arts Journal, 2016.

Featured in the 2016 Themed Issue (Pilot) from Sediments Literary Arts Journal, this story is actually the adaptation of the first chapter in Atticus Benight’s first novel. In this chapter, we meet Odayin, a young woman with an extraordinary gift. When an ecological disaster befalls the valley she calls home, Odayin seeks to use that gift to save her sister, but will it be enough?
